Catholic Theological Union (CTU) is the largest Roman Catholic School of Theology and Ministry in the United States. It was founded in 1968 in the spirit and the vision of the Second Vatican Council. CTU is a diverse community who shares a common pursuit. Its faculty, students, and staff members alike are united in their quest for unparalleled academic excellence, relevant ministerial leadership, and a life of devoted Christian service.
CTU offers several degree programs including Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies (M.A.P.S.), Master of Arts (Theology), (M.A.), and Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.). The Theological Union is hosting the Hesburgh Center for Continuing Formation in Ministry, the Institute of Religious Formation and the Christian Center for the Study of Human Sexuality. In addition, due to the dramatic increase in lay students, CTU offers special initiatives through the Oscar Romero program for Hispanic Ministry and the Augustus Tolton Program for African American Ministry. |
| LUTHERAN SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY AT CHICAGO |
| Lutheran School of Theology (LSTC) at Chicago offers Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.), Master of Arts (M.A.), and the Master of Theology/Doctor of Philosophy (Th.M./Ph.D.) degrees, and other degrees. LSTC is one of eight seminaries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The institution’s commitment to global mission has led to the establishment of a special program in theology, with a primary focus on missions. This program allows LSTC to maximize the utilization of resources of the other educational institutions. LSTC is affiliated with the Association of Chicago Theological Schools, the Hyde Park Cluster, and the University of Chicago. LSTC’s mission is to prepare pastors, theological educators, diaconal ministers, lay professionals, and other church leaders, who are centered in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for the global church. In response to the growing need for bilingual and bicultural pastors, the seminary offers Hispanic ministries as part of its Master of Divinity program. Other programs are offered by the seminary with special emphasis on urban and environmental ministry and biblical studies. |
| McCORMICK THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY |
McCormick Theological Seminary (MTS) trains men and women for Christian ministry. MTS holds membership with the Association of Theological Schools (ACTS) and is associated with the University of Chicago, while playing a vital role in theological education and research.
Although MTS is involved in several ventures, it continues to be known for its warmth, informality, and extraordinary attention to meeting the needs of individual. MTS has maintained a long history of high academic standards and has upheld its commitment to foster and enhance multidisciplinary focus in order to provide wholistic and expert training that ministry requires.
MTS is an autonomous institution, with an ecumenical student body, that embraces its relationship with the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. (P.C.U.S.A.). |
